«Surrealism and Modern Korean Art» was planned as part of the "Rediscovery of Modern Artists" series, which was first held in 2019, to unearth and re-illuminate artists who were neglected in the 20th-century Korean art history, and to restore a richer art history.
This exhibition, which will be held for the second time, introduces six artists who have "a surrealistic constitution rarely seen in the Korean art world": Kim Ukgyu (金旭圭, 1911-1990), Kim Jongnam (金鐘湳, 1914-1986), Il-yu, Kim Jongha (金鍾夏 1918-2011), Shin Youngheon (申榮憲 1923-1995), Kuji (1928-2011), Kim Yonghwan (金永煥, 1928-2011) Hyangbo, and Park Gwangho (朴光浩 1932-2000).
